With features already on NOISEY and hyper-tastemaker Colours Berlin, Louis Rustum is being touted as the future of Danish R&B.
Following his critically-acclaimed debut EP ‘Tomorrowtonite’ in 2014, Louis has working on new material in the studio, but creating enough heat to earn himself a feature on the influential German platform that has placed him alongside the likes of Goldlink, Daniel OG and Kojey Radical in terms of artists set to blow in 2017.
‘Classified’ references an eighties-inspired universe that flirts with pop – tinged with vocoder, it’s a codeine-filled vocal that bounces on a subtle, exotic instrumental that recalls early Timbaland and Magoo/ Panjabi MC’s classic banger ‘Mundian to Bach Ke’. It’s an enticingly balanced style and sound that underlines the scope of Louis’ material to come.
The first release from his upcoming EP, ‘Classified’ alerts the tastemaker press to another moody banger. Meanwhile, the international press is keeping its eyes and ears open on a young artist that’s making moves way outside his homeland.
Speaking on the track, Louis states: “The song is about intuition and temptation in the same room. I recorded it after a 3 month break from the studio, so I think it represents a lot of my relief and frustration in equal measure.”
