NEW TUNE: M.O – “Not In Love”

IMAGE WITHOUT TEXT.jpgWhat a milestone year it’s been for UK R&B girl group M.O – The announcement of a deal with Polydor Records (MABEL, Shura, Years&Years) and Interscope in the US fell right on time and richly-deserved following their first Official Top 20 single ‘Who Do You Think Of’ – which raced to Silver status, selling over 300,000 copies. Only Dua Lipa and Anne Marie could boast similar breakthrough numbers; it was truly a huge statement from a trio who have been rightfully bubbling on the UK’s tastemaker underground since 2013.

Annie, Frankee and Nadine’s MOBO nomination for ‘Best Song’ for it put them alongside Craig David, Kano, Tinie Tempah, WSTRN and Jorja Smith – and succinctly displayed where they should be ranked in the current roster of prime UK urban talent.

Now coming with their new release, ‘Not in Love’ features the girls in power mode alongside one of the hottest rappers in the world right now in Kent Jones (We The Best, DJ Khaled). With an incredible-as-now-expected video again directed by Charlotte Rutherford and Kate Moross, it’s another inescapable female anthem that looks set to cement M.O’s status as the most credible emerging girl groups on the planet right now.

Bringing synths and subtle steel drums to a bouncy, unmistakably M.O beat, produced by FRED and electric (Raye, Stefflon-Don, Charli XCX), the girls again revel in being the masters of their own relationships, and doing so again set the bar for vital, sophisticated girl-power. They’re well on the way to stardom – ‘Not In Love’ is the confident next step from a girl group looking like nothing can stop them right now.
