Wesley “2Play” Johnson is a UK dancehall / garage producer who has been around since the late 90’s, he has two top 10 hits and won a MOBO .
His most recognisable tracks are the following; ‘So Confused’ and ‘It Can’t Be Right’ which both feature canadian singer Raghav. Since then he has been songwriting / been producing / remixing tracks for the likes of Akon, Tinie Tempah, Jay Sean, Simon Webbe, Maxi Priest & the late Amy Winehouse so creating a career for himself in this lane.
One of Dance music’s unsung heroes; Wessley ‘2Play’ Johnson has been writing and producing since the late 90’s, earning himself two top 10 chart hits and a MOBO award for his dancehall collaborations. He has since put his song-writing talent to excellent use having produced & Remixed tracks for the likes of Akon, Tinie Tempah, Jay Sean, Simon Webbe, Maxi Priest & the late Amy Winehouse; it’s this pedigree that has stood Wessley in excellent stead for creating his flawless dancefloor hits of today.
2Play started DJing house & garage at 16, evidently inspired by the vibrant and multicultural East London borough he was raised in and developed serious vinyl habit. He fell in love with the art of mixing and started to formulate a game plan to become a household name. Once 2Play left school he started working full time, saved enough to buy his own home studio, and got to grips with learning the ropes of production. His ear for song writing led him to collaborate with a number of equally up and coming artists, culminating in his 2004 No.5 Top 40 hit ‘So Confused’ with Canadian singer Raghav. Further collaborations followed with the duo, which would see them top the charts once again with ‘It Can’t Be Right’ netting them an AMA award for ‘Best Song’.
2Play took a short hiatus from music to master a new challenge, Mixed Martial Arts. He has triumphed in 6 out of 8 lightweight fights in his career to date and has fought for UFC, Cage Rage and Ultimate Challenge (UCMMA).
2Play has produced and developed a number of high profile artists including Fleur East, Thomas Jules (Rudamental) & Moni Tivoni (The Voice finalist). This year will see some more exciting new artists emerge.
2016 sees the welcome return of 2Play; from the other side of the studio glass to the public eye, with new single ‘She’s Got That Vibe’ feat Christian Jules. Released with Sony, ‘She’s Got That Vibe’ is a flawless remake of R Kelly’s 90’s RnB classic, with a vocal summer house twist – set to light the dancefloors on fire from Ibiza to Australia, and beyond.
